Bible Society of Nigeria to organise Marathon Bible Reading
General News
THE Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) says it is set for the 20th edition of its annual Marathon Bible Reading.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Ben Mordi, Manager, Media and Public Relations, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.
Mordi said that the programme would be declared open by Pastor Samuel Sanusi, the General Secretary/CEO of BSN, on Sunday, Sept. 4, at Williams Memorial Methodist Church, Ago-Ijaiye, Ebute-Meta, Lagos.
He said the programme would take place in Lagos and 18 other states across the country from Sept. 5–9, 2022.
According to the statement, the Marathon Bible Reading is designed to stimulate the dying culture of reading the Bible and encourage people to read the Word of God for their blessing and growth.
He said that the exercise allows participants to read the Bible uninterrupted, between 9.00 a.m and 5.00 p.m. daily, in their own languages at the different centres.
“The participants, irrespective of age, profession, or sex, will have a three-fold joy by participating.
“Apart from reading the Bible in their languages, they will help someone else hear the Word of God in a new way and join others in the continuous reading of the Bible,” the statement said.
The BSN is a not-for-profit interdenominational Christian organisation that translates the Bible into Nigerian languages.
It publishes, distributes and raises funds for Bible work and also oorganise programmes that engage people with the word of God to transform their lives.
So far, the BSN has translated the complete Bible into 26 Nigerian languages, while translation/revision is on-going in 10 other languages. (NAN)
