Bingham University to confer first emeritus professorship at 5th convocation

BINGHAM University, located in Karu, Nasarawa State, is set to confer its first emeritus professorship on Prof. Yakubu Alhasan at its 5th combined convocation ceremony slated for November 8.
This announcement was made by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Ayuba, at a news conference on Tuesday in Karu.
He said Alhasan’s conferment is a testament to his exceptional contributions to the university, particularly in academics, mentorship, and community service.
According to him, the professor’s efforts have significantly impacted the growth and development of the institution, which was founded on Christian principles to provide quality education.
Ayuba said Bingham University had made notable strides in its academic offerings, boasting: 15 faculties, 54 departments, 80 programmes, comprising 40 undergraduate and 40 postgraduate programmes across its Karu and Jos campuses.
According to him, the 5th combined convocation ceremony marks a significant milestone for the university, with: 1,602 undergraduates and 615 postgraduates, receiving degrees, 57 first-class graduates and the university’s inaugural cohort of 41 PhD graduates.
Ayuba said the convocation would also feature circle lectures from renowned lecturers, recognition of academic achievements, and awards for hardworking and dedicated students.
He said the university’s management expressed gratitude to stakeholders, the government, and the media for their support.(NAN)
