Blacksmith jailed 2 years for breaking into shop, stealing

AN Area court in Jos on Monday sentenced a 22-year-old blacksmith, Ahmed Hassan to two years imprisonment for shop breaking and theft.
Delivering judgment, Magistrate Suleiman Lawal sentenced Hassan after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Lawal held that the sentence was without any option of fine.
“This judgment will serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such acts, ” said Lawal.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Monday Dabit told the court that the case was reported by the complainant, Ms Kudirat Musa of Bauchi road Jos, on July 17 at the Nassarawa Gwong police station .
The prosecutor said that the convict compelled a nine-year-old boy to pick items worth N53,500 from the shop after breaking into the shop.
He further said that the convict had been a terror in the area .
Dabit said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 336 and 273 of Plateau Penal Code Law.(NAN)
