Boat mishap: HYPPADEC dispatches experts for rescue operations

THE Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) says it has dispatched a team of experts to the scene of a boat mishap in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara to assist in the search operations.
The commission’s Managing Director, Alhaji Abubakar Yelwa, said this in statement on Wednesday in Ilorin.
Yelwa said the commission was awaiting a comprehensive report on the accident to be guided on the next line of action to be taken to avert future occurrence.
He described as tragic, the boat mishap following the recorded huge casualties.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that no fewer than 100 persons were reported dead when a woden boat carrying about 300 people returning to Ebbu after a wedding capsized.
The managing director, who comisserated with the breaved family, the Kwara Government and Patigi Emirate Council, also prayed for the quick recovery of the survivors. (NAN)
