Solomon Arase, acting inspector-general of police, is tightening security around media houses in the wake of bomb explosion at the TAM FM radio station which killed four people
SOLOMON Arase, acting inspector general of Police, has ordered the immediate reinforcement of security around all media houses in the country. This directive followed the bombing of TAO FM, a community radio station, in Okene, Kogi state, which led to the death of four people late Monday night, April 27.
A statement issued by Emmanuel Ojukwu, Force public relations officer and acting commissioner of Police, the inspector-general of police, “ordered water-tight security around media houses nationwide” to prevent any attack from disgruntled elements in the society.
According to the statement, the Police high command is “concerned about the recent attacks on media houses and journalists.”
The attack also happened same day the African Independent Television was banned from covering the activities of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, president-elect. The All Progressives Congress has since lifted the ban after an outcry from Nigerians and the Peoples Democratic party.
