VINCENT Onome Akpotaire, acting director general of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, has described the Bureau as a unique public institution with well-groomed workforce positioned to drive the nation’s economy. He likened the work ethics, orientation and world view of the agency’s work force to that of the private sector.

Akpotaire made the observations when he received an Award of Excellence conferred on him by the Faculty of Management Sciences of the University of Benin. The presentation of the award was made by I. O. Osamwonyi, a professor and dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, UNIBEN, on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the BPE in Abuja.

The BPE boss, in his acceptance speech, thanked the Faculty and University for the award, saying that the award was a personal honour and also honour to the privatisation agency given that the Bureau gave him the platform to exhibit his managerial skills. He also thanked the university who groomed him for national service as a student and lecturer in the Faculty of Law.

Akpotaire pledged to keep up with the good work as he saw the award as a call for more hard work towards national development through the public service.

The award which was presented by Christopher Ovie, special adviser to Osamwonyi, was in recognition of Akpotaire’s extraordinary contributions in public service in Nigeria.

The Award for Excellence is in appreciation of efforts by notable Nigerians towards nation building. Osamwonyi said

that Akpotaire who has made his mark in the academia and in the public service, was worthy of recognition of his accomplishments which needed to be encouraged. He said that nation building was a collective effort and that the University of Benin would always support good causes.
