–

THE National Working Committee, NWC, has dismissed the idea that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dissolved ward and local government committees in Imo state. A statement signed by Olisa Metuh, national publicity secretary to the party, said the attention of the NWC had been drawn to misconceptions and misinterpretation of the state of affairs in the Imo State chapter of the party.

“The NWC hereby clarifies that the local government and ward caretaker committees have not been dissolved by the party. They are fully in charge of the ward and local government affairs of the party in the state and are hereby directed to work with the Hon Vitalis Okafor-led State Caretaker Committee,” it said.

Similarly, the NWC further clarifies that the Okafor-led State Caretaker Committee is completely in charge of the affairs of the party at the State level while being answerable to the National Working Committee.

Nevertheless and for the avoidance of doubt, the NWC states that no other person or group except the Okafor-led committee is authorized to handle the administration of the party at the State level.

The NWC cautions that any unauthorized interference by any person or group whatsoever in the running of the party in the state would be faced with strict disciplinary action by the NWC in accordance with the constitution of PDP.

The NWC therefore urges all stakeholders and relevant organs of the party in the state to work together with the Okafor-led Caretaker Committee in the general interest of the party in the state.
