BSUTH to establish an ultra-modern cancer centre – CMD

DR. Stephen Hwande, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi, said the hospital would soon set up an ultra-modern cancer unit.

Hwande disclosed this on Wednesday in Makurdi, while briefing newsmen to herald the two-day International Health Investment Summit/Scientific Exhibition and Endowment Fund for Cancer, to commence on Thursday.

The CMD said the aim was to enable early detection and treatment of the ailment, stressing that cancer, if detected early could be treated and cured.

“Women that have multiple sex partners do experience virginal discharge issues and it sometimes lead to cervical cancer.

“The management of this hospital wants to change the narrative of cancer management in Benue,”Hwande said.

He further said that the hospital would launch a Five billion naira cancer endowment fund on Friday.

He also disclosed that BSUTH would soon establish a Very Important Persons (VIP) Clinic and all the testing gadgets would be there to mimic what was happening abroad.

He disclosed that the hospital would also recognise some of her benefactors, particularly the former governor of the state, Sen. Gabriel Suswam for his generous support to the hospital.

He said that he owed Gov. Hyacinth Alia a debt of gratitude for his selfless support to the hospital, stressing that the growth and development of the hospital in recent times was as a result of his relentless support. (NAN)
