Budget Paper Not Missing – Saraki
BREAKING NEWS, Politics

CONTRARY to media report that the Senate’s copy of the 2016 budget estimates was missing, Bukola Saraki, Senate president, on Wednesday, January 13, dispelled the report as speculation and announced that members of the Senate would begin a three-day debate on the 2016 Appropriation Bill from Tuesday, January 19, next week.
Saraki, who stated this at the resumption of plenary on Wednesday, explained that copies of the document would be distributed to members as from Thursday, January 14.
He urged members of the Senate to indicate the day they would wish to make contributions on the fiscal document at the Senate President’s office before the end of the week.
President Muhammadu Buhari submitted to the National Assemble a copy of the 2016 budget on December 22, 2015
The rumours that the budget was missing caused confusion in the National Assembly on Tuesday when Ali Ndume, Senate leader, reportedly told his colleagues at a closed session in the red chamber that both the soft and hard copies of the 2016 federal budget was missing.
Ndume, according to some senators who spoke with some reporters strictly on conditions of anonymity, lamented that the development would not allow the senate to go ahead with the necessary legislative process on the fiscal document at its plenary on Tuesday, January 19.
