PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari is alive and well. Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, made this clarification Sunday, May 14, night.
In a series of tweets on his verified twitter handle, Shehu asked Nigerians to ignore rumours to the contrary.
“Baseless rumours are trending again that an unpleasant thing has happened to our beloved President, Muhammadu Buhari,” Shehu said.
“If you have received this information on WhatsApp or Facebook, disregard it bcos it is plain lies spread by vested interests to create panic.
“Nothing unpleasant has happened to the President. No cause for apprehension. Thanks for the many calls.”
In the same vein, Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, described the rumour as vain.
“Why do some people rage and imagine vain things? It is the counsel of God that shall stand. May God bless all those praying for PMB,” Adesina wrote on @FemAdesina,his Twitter handle. President Buhari departed for London penultimate Sunday, May 7, night for a follow-up consultation with his doctors who are to determine the length of his stay there.
Before his departure, President Buhari handed over power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who has been acting president.
It would be recalled that the president had been similarly rumoured dead during his last medical vacation in the United Kingdom in January.
