Buhari Appoints New Accountant General

President Muahammadu Buhari has appointed Ahmed Idris, director of finance from ministry of Mines and Steel, as the accountant general of the federation

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, June 25, appointed Ahmed Idris as the accountant-general of Nigeria. In a statement issued by Haruna Imrana, director of communications for the head of civil service of the federation, said the appointment took effect immediately.

Idris, who hails from Kano State, was born on November 25, 1960, and was until his appointment the director of finance and accounts in the federal ministry of mines and steel development.

The position of AGF became vacant after Jonah Otunla, former accountant general, resigned on June 12. The office of the head of service later conducted examinations for prospective candidates for the position. All directors of finance and accounts and some in the Audit department, from all the ministries, numbering over 60, attended the first round of examination.
