PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has written the Senate to confirm Aisha Ahmad as the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
A statement by Femi Adesina, presidential media adviser, on Thursday, said Ahmad will replace a former deputy governor, who retired early this year.
In accordance with the provisions of Section 8(1) (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2007, Buhari urged the senate to consider her confirmation expeditiously to enable her resume work immediately.
Also Buhari wrote the Senate to confirm appointment of members of the Monetary Policy Committee of the CBN.
They are to replace four members whose tenure expires by the end of this year.
The nominees are Professor Adeola Festus Adenikinju, Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi, Robert Chikwendu Asogwa and Asheikh A. Maidugu.
The new members of the Monetary Policy Committee are to resume duties next January after confirmation by the Senate.
