Buhari appoints New CGs for NSCDC, NCS

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Ahmed Abubakar Audi as the new commandant-general, CG, of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

Rauf Aregbesola, minister of interior, who made the announcement Thursday, February 18, added that the appointment followed the retirement of Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, former CG, in January.

Also, Aregbesola said the president has appointed Haliru Nababa as the new controller general, CG, of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCS.

Mohammed Manga, director of Press, ministry of Interior  made this known in a statement, saying that Audi, emerged the top best candidate out of those that went through the transparent selection process initiated by the ministry.

The exercise was done through the board to ensure that the most suitable among the top-ranking officers in the service was appointed to replace the out-going commandant-general of the NSCDC.

He said the nomination of Nababa is subject to the confirmation of the Senate in line with the provision of the new Act establishing the Nigerian Correctional Service 2019.

Aregbesola congratulated the new appointees, urging them to fully implement their mandate and synergise with other security agencies in the country.
