Buhari greets Sen. Anyim Ude at 70
General News
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Sen. Anyim Chukwu Ude on his 70th birthday, joining family and friends to celebrate with the veteran journalist.
In a congratulatory message released by his spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Tuesday, Buhari said Ude’s antecedents in public and private sectors would continue to inspire many, particularly the youth.
The president also congratulated Ude for his interest in the welfare of the people.
He noted that Ude started as a journalist, both in print and broadcast media, and steadily rose to leadership positions in many media houses before delving into politics and winning elections as a lawmaker.
Buhari believed Ude’s contributions to national development, with a focus on grassroots empowerment, set him apart early for more responsibilities in leadership.
He lauded him for the historic roles he played as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation and four other Senate Committees: Defence & Army, Land Transport, Capital Markets, and Culture & Tourism, saying such roles would always count for more recognitions.
The president prayed that the Almighty God would grant the senator good health and longer life. (NAN)
