–

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has approved the removal of Danladi Kifasi, head of civil service of the federation, with immediate effect. Kifasi has been asked to proceed on terminal leave and no replacement has been announced.

Realnews learnt that Kifasi was removed in order to balance Federal Character Principle as enshrined in the Constitution of Nigeria. Kifasi, who is from Taraba State, is from the same North-East zone of the country with Babachir David Lawal, secretary to the government of the federation, SGF, who is from Adamawa State.

It was gathered that Kifasi who had served as permanent secretary in several ministries including federal ministry of finance and petroleum has prepared for smooth handover in the event of the announcement of new head of civil service of the federation who may likely come from the Southern part of Nigeria.

Kifasi was appointed the head of civil service by former President Goodluck Jonathan on August 13, 2014. Before his appointment as the head of service, Kifasi, was a member of the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC; a non-executive director of the Asset Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, and an alternate governor of Islamic Development Bank.
