PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, July 16, terminated the appointment of Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi as the director-general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA.

Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, announced the sacking in a statement made available to journalists, on Thursday.

Adesina, however, did not give reason for the decision which he said took immediate effect.

He said Akpobolokemi was asked to hand over the management of NIMASA all government property in his possession to the most senior officer in the agency who would remain in charge until a new director-general was appointed.

President Buhari in the same vein approved the dissolution of the governing boards of all federal parastatals, agencies and institutions.

According to a statement by Adesina takes effect from Thursday, July 16, until the boards were reconstituted, chief executive officers of the affected parastatals, agencies and institutions would refer all matters requiring the attention of their boards to the president through the permanent secretaries of their supervising ministries.

He said the dissolution would not affect federal executive bodies listed in the 1999 Constitution.
