Construct new roads in Ekwulimili, indigenes plead

EKWULUMILI Community in Nnewi South Local Government Area (LGA) have appealed to Governor Willie Obiano to construct new roads in the community.

“I appeal to Anambra State government to include Ekwulumili among communities to benefit from the next phase of road construction,’’ Ebenezer Okoli, a chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.

He made the call while appraising the performance of  Obiano over the last four years of his first term.

According to him, no single road has been constructed in Ekwulumili by previous administrations.

Okoli said the community deserved good roads because they massively voted for Obiano during the last Governorship Election in the state.

He lamented that the community had not benefited from successive governments, except the N20 million communities choose your project initiative, extended to every community in the state.

Okoli said the people of the community expected that Obiano would remember them during his second term in office them, so as to end “years of neglect and marginalisation’’.

He, however, commended him for his prudent management of the state meagre resources.,

The chieftain praised his prompt payment of salaries and pensions, investments in agriculture, trade and commerce, and revamping of the health and education sectors.

Okoli, then, appealed to the governor to upgrade the Ekwulumili Community Hospital to a General Hospital in order to stem occurrence of preventable deaths of people and pregnant women.
