AS part of efforts to attract more Nigerians into insurance, the Insurance Industry Consultative Council (IICC) on Wednesday began training of more than 100 Delta residents on compulsory insurance.

The Chairman of IICC, Mr Eddie Efekoha, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone that the participants were drawn from government parastatal-agencies and the private sector.

He said that the event taking place in Asaba was aimed at spreading insurance value across the state.

Efekoha told NAN that that the training would give the participants insight into liability compulsory insurances, assessment and rating of compulsory insurances and insurance claims administration.

He expressed dissatisfaction that some Nigerians had yet to believe in insurance because of lack of knowledge on how it worked.

The chairman said that insurance would provide solution to unexpected risks.

“Insurance gives someone the ultimate keys to live and work with freedom.

“Some products are not being purchased because of lack of understanding,” he said.

Efekoha said IICC would continue to educate Nigerians on the gains of insurance.

“Compulsory insurances are types of insurance an individual or business is legally required to buy.

“They include motor third party liability insurance, employers liability insurance, employers liability insurance (group life) and builders liability insurance, among others,’’ he said.(NAN)
