Businessman docked for alleged cheating

A businessman, Husseini Salisu was on Friday arraigned in a Kubwa Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for alleged cheating.
The police charged the defendant with criminal breach of trust, misappropriation and cheating.
The prosecuting counsel, John Okpa told the court that the defendant allegedly deceived the complainant, Auwal Mohammed into delivering cow meat worth N152, 500 to him sometime in 2023.
Okpa said the defendant received the meat in pretence to sell and remit the money to Mohammed but instead sold it and converted the money to his personal use.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 , 309 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Oyepeju Mustapha admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties, resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
Mustapha ordered that the sureties must have sustainable means of livelihood, present valid means of identification and their addresses verified by the court’s registrar.
She adjourned the matter until Nov.14, for hearing.(NAN)
