Businessman in court for allegedly snatching partner’s cell phone

The Police, on Thursday, arraigned a 32-year-old man, Okpe Nnabuchi, before a Karu Grade I Area Court sitting in Abuja for allegedly snatching his business partner’s cell phone.
The defendant is standing trial for extortion, an offence he, however, denied committing.
The Prosecutor, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that the victim, one Emmanuel Udalor, reported the matter at Karu Police Station on Dec. 7.
“The victim (complainant) alleged that on same day, while he was sitting in front of a plaza at Kugbo, Abuja, the defendant came to meet him and forcefully removed his phone from his pocket.
“The complainant said that before snatching the phone, the defendant demanded for the N2,000 he had borrowed from him some months back.
“During police investigation, the snatched phone was recovered from the defendant’s possession,” Adeyanju said.
He said that the offence contravened Section 292 of the Penal Code Law.
The Judge, Inuwa Maiwada, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N60,000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till Feb. 8, 2021, for hearing.(NAN)
