A Jos Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, sentenced a 35-year old businessman, Rabiu Jibril, in a correctional centre for conspiring and stealing a motorcycle from a company.
The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Bokkos, who sentenced Jibril to one year in jail in the first instance, gave him an option of a fine of N10,000.
The magistrate further ordered the convict to pay a compensation of N15,000 or get a six-month jail term if he defaulted.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Labaran Ahmed, told the court that the complainant, Shadrach Wakili reported the case at the ‘A’ Division Police Station on June 26.
Ahmed said that the convict conspired with two others now at large to steal the motorcycle.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the Plateau State Penal Code. (NAN)
