ERSTWHILE Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper and Captain of Kwara United FC of Ilorin, Dele Aiyenugba, has described the mood in camp of his team as great ahead of TotalEnergies Confederation Cup match against AS Douanes of Niger Republic.

The match is scheduled to hold at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Sunday.

Aiyenugba told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Friday  that the players are trying to concentrate and focus on the game on Sunday.

“We want to take every game step by step because we have two games on our hands right now (both home and away), before we talk of next team in Morocco and going to group stage.

“The management is doing a great job to see that the players are comfortable ahead of the match,” Aiyenugba said.

He said that the new players in the team had blended so fast to the system of the team.

The captain said the old players welcomed them with love because Kwara United was all about unity and togetherness.

NAN reports that the 2nd leg of the match will hold at the Général Seyni Kountché Stadion or Stade Municipal de Niamey, Niger, the home grounds of the team on Sept. 18.

The winner, over the two legs, will play Moroccan side, Berkane, who are the current holders of the Confederation Cup title.

This is Kwara United FC’s third appearance in CAF competitions, having played in CAF Cup in 1999/2000 and in 2006/2007 seasons.

The club finished fourth in the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League season, and tipped alongside Remo Stars, to represent the country in the Confederation Cup. (NAN)
