Camp: NYSC mobilises consultant, 3 doctors’ for Plateau corps members

THE National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said that the corps has engaged the services of a medical consultant and three other medical doctors to carter for the healthcare needs of corps members on camp.
Mr Abdulsalam Alhassan, the Plateau NYSC Coordinator, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the Mangu orientation camp on Monday.
Alhassan said that the consultant would oversee the other doctors to ensure corps members get accurate and adequate attention.
He said it was the corps’ policy not to allow corps doctors to attend to their fellow corps members alone without the supervision of either a resident doctor or consultant.
The official said that the clinic also have pharmacists who dispense drugs and medical laboratory scientists who carry out investigation in the camp’s mini medical laboratory.
He pointed that the NYSC had an affiliation with the Mangu General Hospital and Jos University Teaching Hospital, whereby medical cases that can’t be handled in the camp clinic were referred to for prompt attention.
Besides, Alhassan pointed that at the beginning of every orientation exercise the clinic was stocked with various drugs and injectables such as anti-venom’s in addition to a functional ambulance. (NAN)– Jul. 30, 2018 @ 17:55 GMT |
