FORMER Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Eazirin Adamaea, has challenged Nigerian youths to open up their minds to innovation, to make them not just self reliant, but employers of labour, that would propel Nigeria to greater heights.
According to a statement signed by Jacob Onjewu Dickson, the director Media and Publicity, North West Atiku Care Foundation, made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Monday, November 13, he gave the charge while speaking after he was presented with an award of Recognition of Excellence by the Kaduna State University, KASU, students union government in Kaduna on Sunday, November 12.
“Even though we are going through hard times, I urge us as youth to open up our minds and learn to be innovative so that we just don’t survive, but in the process, help many others survive through multiplying effects of jobs that you would have created,” he said.
The Wazirin Adamawa who was represented at the event by Ibrahim Danfulani, the chairman, Atiku Care Foundation Kafuna State, said that the world today is being dominated by youths, making their marks in different spheres, especially positively through the internet, which holds a potential key to survival of future blue chip corporations.
Speaking further, he said that the history of Nigeria at this particular time is interesting because several agitations and calls for restructuring is dominating public discourse.
“To me, it is a welcome development because it will help us to attain nationhood when we discuss our differences and fashion out how to live together as one united entity,” he added.
He urged them to be patriotic Nigerians and be optimistic of a brighter future, where all citizens of the country can be proud to proclaim that they are from the world’s most populous black nation, which would have also become a world economic hub by then.
“I am highly honoured to be recognized by your prestigious group for this award.
“I am assuring you that this award is cherished and would be a constant motivation to spur me towards achieving more.
“Though I looked forward to attending personally, some unexpected circumstances which I would disclose to you at a later date, came up.
“Accept my unreserved apology and accept my little speech which would be read by my representative.
“When I come to Kaduna soon, I would meet with you personally and we would get to discuss like friends that we are,” he assured.
