Candidate promises youth empowerment in Niger

THE All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Niger, Malam Umar Bago, has reiterated his commitment to job creation and youth empowerment in the state if elected in 2023.

Bago also promise to accord priority attention to education, healthcare services and agriculture, among others .

Bago told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) in Minna on Tuesday that he would pursue job creation and youth empowerment with vigour.

“Our youths are our future leaders of tomorrow and we have to prepare ground for them to take over from where we stop.

“Without jobs after leaving school, and no capital to start a viable business, many of them are facing challenges and frustration; we will address that if giving the mandate”, he said.

Bago said that his team had already developed a marshall job creation scheme that would be extensively implemented through skill acquisition centres in the 25 local government areas of the state.

“Our idea is empowerment programmes of shorter duration, but which will make them independent entrepreneurs in a short time possible.

“On education, we would provide require needed  funds to transform our educational sector into optimal performance.

“We would provide an atmosphere conducive for learning for our children as well as ensure the provision of basic learning facilities.

“We will  prepare academic ground for through infrastructures for  qualitative and sound  education to enable them contribute towards socio-economic and political growth of our state.

“Our teachers would be retained to  acquire more knowledge to have direct impact on our children to be able to teach our brothers and sisters the best,” he said.

He also promised that modern health facilities would be provided in all public health institutions for qualitative healthcare services.

“We will ensure well trained manpower to manage our health institutions with modern health facilities”, he said.

Bago said that he ventured into politics to contribute to nation-building and give the much-desired quality representation to the youths.

“As far as I am concerned, we need to realise that as a nation, we need to start positioning our young people through  leadership of this country,” he said.(NAN)
