Cashier docked for allegedly misappropriating employer’s N218,000

A 27-year-old cashier, Rakiya Sambo, was on Thursday docked for allegedly misappropriating her employer’s N218, 000.
The police charged Sambo, who resides in Kawo, Kaduna, with criminal misappropriation.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that Salma Danjuma reported the matter at the station on Sept. 5.
Leo said the complainant alleged that the defendant, who she employed as sales girl at her shop at Central Market Kaduna, could not account for goods worth N218, 000 kept under her custody.
When the charge was read to the defendant, she pleaded not guilty.
The offence, he said contravened the provisions of Section 288 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
The prosecutor prayed the court to adjourn the case as police investigation into the matter was still ongoing.
He however stated that granting bail for the accused was at the discretion of the court.
The Magistrate, Malam Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 bail with a surety in like sum.
He said that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case until Oct. 25 for hearing.(NAN)
