IN line with its commitment to empowering widows and transforming lives, a Lagos based charity organisation, CBA Foundation has announced the 2023 edition of its annual transformative journey to raise awareness for its noble cause in making the society a better place for widows and their children.

On Saturday, 11 November 2023, the Foundation will kick off its symbolic walk, Walk4Hope from Eko Hotel. The walkathon, themed “Volunteer to Make a Difference” serves as a powerful platform to spread awareness about the challenges faced by widows and the essential support they require from the community.

“The 2023 edition of our annual Walk4Hope is very special to us at CBA Foundation. It is amongst the many steps we take to give widows the needed voice and support they need. Every widow that is single handedly raising their child(ren) in this part of the world is a daunting task due to the many cultural and society challenges they face,” said Chinwe Bode-Akinwande, Founder, CBA Foundation.

Like previous editions, every step taken during the 2023 Walk4Hope resonates with the courage of every widow as they strive for a better tomorrow for their family. By walking together, we are not only raising awareness but also fostering a sense of belonging and support for widows in our community. We invite everyone to join us in this remarkable journey of compassion, impact and love,” she concluded.

Through the years since it was founded in 2015, CBA Foundation has reached out to thousands of underprivileged widows and children through skills acquisition training, health intervention, business start-ups and provision of clothing, nutrition and tuition fees for the children. This is in recognition of the foundation’s resolve to shed light on their stories and advocate for their rights, especially as widows are undoubtedly the unsung heroes of our society and face numerous challenges that need to be addressed.
