THE Vanguard for Good Governance and Stability (VGGS), an NGO, has called on APC to cede Senate Presidency for the 10th Senate to the South East for not only equity but political inclusiveness.
This is contained in a statement co-signed by Mr Ebubeagu Ekenulo, Convener and Mr Tijjani Mohammadu, secretary as made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.
They said that a Senate Presidency of South East extraction would enhance inclusiveness and national political stability.
They advised the ruling APC to demonstrate national acceptance by ceding the Senate leadership to the South East.
“All Progressives Congress as a national party and one that would like to hold sway for many years to come.
“The importance of this will be enormous as it will engender sense of belonging, enhance the fight against agitation and douse tension in the zone.
“Deepen the growth of APC in the zone and further enhance embracing APC as the party of first choice in the zone,” they said.
While raised alarm over the gradual exit of the South East from core opposition parties, they said that ceding the Senate Presidency to them would bring them into the heart of the ruling party.
He asserted that the zone had competent hands who were driven by progressive ideas required to steer the affairs of the Senate.
“The group therefore wishes to urge APC to use their good office to engage the relevant stakeholders to ensure the Senate Is ceded to the South East” he said.
“This will be another master stroke in the conquest of nation for the continued leadership of APC at the national and regional levels”, they said. (NAN)
