THE National Population Commission (NPC) says it has begun training for 68 field workers on Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) in Plateau.

Speaking while declaring the two-day training open on Monday in Jos, the Plateau Federal Commissioner of NPC, Mrs Cecilia Dapoet, urged the trainees to be serious in learning the skills.

She said that their knowledge on computer “is critical for their assimilation of the skills and performance to ensure the success of the 2023 census.

“The bulk of the success of the census lies on you (trainees). Do the training whole heartedly becaaue you are doing it for your state; concentrate to get the rudiments of the training”.

Speaking earlier, the State Coordinator of NPC in Plateau, Mr Pam Deme, said  ”CAPI is part of a series of training for the functionaries of the census to ensure they are well equipped to go to the field.

“We want you to be properly informed and knowledgeable to be able to step down this training”.

One of the facilitators, Mr Nanpon Rimpyen, said that the training was also aimed at making them efficient in conducting CAPI during the 2023 census.

Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Miss Watse Bello, assured NPC that they would put in their best in the training.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NPC had trained earlier in the year 90 enumerators and nine supervisors for the 2023 census.(NAN)
