DR Eyitayo Oyetunji, Chairman, Publicity Committee, National Population Commission (NPC) has said that the shifting of population census from March to May would not affect the preparedness of the commission.

Oyetunji said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Federal Government has shifted the Population and Housing Census earlier slated for March to May.

He said that the commission had envisaged the shift as a result of the elections.

Oyetunji reiterated the preparedness of the commission to deliver a credible and digital census.

“The shift is as a result of the shift in elections.

The only worry may be that the new date is getting too close to the end of the tenure of this Administration,” he said.

Oyetunji explained that the census as tentatively arranged by the commission would commence on May 3.

He restated the commission`s readiness to count Nigerians head to head for the generation of credible data required for national planning. (NAN)
