THE National Productivity Centre (NPC) says it’s partnering  the Nasarawa State Government on the training of newly employed staff to ensure optimal performance.

Mrs Mojisola Imosun, Nasarawa State Coordinator of NPC said this during three-day training for the newly employed staff of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Technology on Wednesday in Lafia.

The NPC coordinator said that the training was aimed at making the staff Productivity Champions and Ambassadors that would drive productivity in their ministry for better service delivery.

She explained that NPC as a Federal Government parastatal, was established by act (CAP) 70 of the laws of the federation of Nigeria 2004.

She pointed out that the centre had  the mandate of accelerating socioeconomic growth and development through productivity in all sectors of the economy.

Imosun added that the centre was  fully engaged in productivity promotion and advocacy, Research and Survey, productivity measurement and capacity building among others.

She said that the centre would train the new employees on how to add value to their organisational objectives and improve their performance.

“We introduce them to the use of productivity tools and techniques in their offices for enhanced service delivery,” she said.

On his part, Mr Samuel Emgba, Commissioner for Science, Innovation and Technology, lauded NPC for the partnership to train staff of his ministry.

He explained that the training was in line with the principle of  the Gov. Abdullahi Sule led administration on human capital development  through training and re-training of civil servants.

He added that science and technology was the driving force of development in any nation and Nasarawa State could not be left behind.

“That is why we have decided to equip our staff with the requisite knowledge for optimal performance,” he said.

He, therefore, advised them to take the training seriously in order to justify the investment in their future in the civil service.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Bawa Timothy, expressed gratitude to the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve the state.

He also thanked the commissioner for improving their capacities and promised to bring the knowledge gained to bear on their jobs for better service delivery. (NAN)
