Chairman Ogbo-Ogwu market, Onitsha commends health experts at medical outreach

The Chairman Caretaker Committee of Ogbo-Ogwu Bridge Head market Union, Onitsha, Mr. Ndubuisi Chukwuleta, has commended the quality service rendered at the Onitsha market medical outreach organized by the leadership of the market.
This commendation came when he paid a thank-you visit to the Hospital Administrator (HA), Dr. Innocent Umeakunne in his office in EnugwuUkwu.
The Market leader said that the team of health experts that the HA brought to the programme rendered quality healthcare services to the beneficiaries, adding that testimonies have started pouring in.
“One of the beneficiaries said he has been ill for several years, took different medications without getting better but just four days he took the drugs given to him during the medical outreach he got well”, the Chairman narrated.
He thanked the Commissioner for health, Dr Afam Obidike for his support and approval of the visit of the team that attended to people health needs during outreach.
He noted that in the past people slumped in the market and before reaching the hospital, they were confirmed dead.
He suggested that it will be good to have a clinic in the market with health personnel attending to members of the market and publichat have health challenges.
“Though we are conversant with the names and prices of drugs but we do not have knowledge on how to administer them because we are not doctors or pharmacists.
“We know the names of drugs and their prices but we cannot prescribe drugs to anyone because we are not doctors or pharmacists.
“For over 39 years of the establishment of this market, this kind of event has not taken place.
“I will like to leave the legacy of making the medical outreach an annual event for other people to follow.
“This is because some of the members hardly have time to visit the hospitals and this will enable them get free access to quality health care service.”
More importantly, he said he would continue to encourage members of the union to visit the hospital when they are sick for proper treatment.
The hospital administrator, Dr. Innocent Umeakunne, thanked the chairman for the free medical outreach where over 500 people benefited.
“I am very happy when people came out en- mass to access health care services which lasted for 4 days, showing their belief and trust in the services of the state government doctors.”
He said that he had never witnessed this kind of turn out in other free medical outreaches he has participated in.
The doctor thanked the the market executive for their planning which he said was now yielding good results from the testimonies from the beneficiaries.
According to the HA over 10 different tests were carried out during the medical outreach, free of charge and treatment commenced immediately.
He charged the chairman to continue feeling the pulse of his people to give them free and good health care services
