Chambas honoured with Ivorian highest national award

MOHAMMED Ibn Chambas has been decorated with the Ivorian highest National Award, the Order of Cote d’Ivoire following his recent retirement as Secretary General’s Special Representative and Head of UN Office for West Africa and the Sahel, UNOWAS.
During the ceremony in Abidjan, President Alassane Ouattara commended Chambas for contributing to the facilitation of Ivorian national reconciliation dialogue and the recent elections in the country.
He said the support started from Chambas’ position as ECOWAS Executive Secretary/ President of the Commission through his last UN position.

He also received a similar award from Guinea Bissau in December 2020.
