Prosper Okafor, President, National Youth Summit on Peace and Security (NYSPS), says that only synergy between the military and civilians, especially youths could guarantee lasting victory over insurgency and insecurity in the country.

Okafor told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja that security of life and property must not be left alone to the military.

He urged Nigerians, especially the youth to work in synergy with the military for a stable and peaceful Nigeria.

Okafor also explained that it was time for youth to take security as a major factor in making their choice of leadership.

“We must work in collaboration with our military in fighting crime, especially insurgency and insecurity.

“Nigeria belongs to all and must be protected jealously with all our might. Security should also guide our choice of leadership,” he said.

He commended the armed forces for fighting gallantly in defence of the country, saying: “We are grateful for your sacrifices”.

Okafor particularly thanked the Chief of Army Staff as well as the Inspector-General of Police for rising to the demands of securing the country. (NAN)
