CHELSEA are keen to sign Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, ahead of the summer transfer window in a bid to reclaim their status as one of the Premier League title contenders.
Realnews reports that the Nigerian international has a buy-out clause in his Napoli deal valued at €130m and will be one of the hottest strikers available for possible acquisition.
In an apparent bid to wade off other suitors, the West London side have opened contract talks with the agent of the top striker in the Italian Serie A of last season with 26 league goals in 32 league games, according to a report on Caughtoffside on Tuesday.
The report indicates that both parties are close to agreeing personal terms for the African Footballer of the Year albeit his valuation of €130m has to be met.
Previously, there were reports making the rounds that Chelsea are hoping to meet the valuation, but want to structure the payment rather than playing in one sum.
Aside Chelsea, other European heavyweights previously linked with Osimhen include Arsenal, PSG and Manchester United.
Osimhen said few months ago that he had a clear idea of where he would play his football next season, which many Chelsea faithful believed was a reference to their beloved club which once had the Nigerian’s football idol, Didier Drogba strutting his talents at Stamford Bridge.
Osimhen was also thought to consider Arsenal, having been approached by legendary manager, Arsene Wenger, when he was in charge of the Gunners, but the top scorer at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile stated that at 18, he was not ready to be played sparingly hence he elected to find more playing time elsewhere which culminated in the move to Weder Bremen.
