THE New Seraph of the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Church, on Friday spent hours praying for divine wisdom for Nigeria’s leaders.
The C&S denomination also made reform projections to advance the church.
The church made the prayer and projections at its 2024 Annual General Conference (AGC) held at the New Seraph Prayer Ground, Sapade, Ogun, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the AGC attended by members of the church within and outside Nigeria’s was, among things, aimed at stocktaking and planning to move the church forward.
The AGC had the theme: “Approaching C&S Centenary: Reshaping the Future”.
Members of the church sang for hours, praising God and prayed for wisdom for Nigeria’s leaders to govern better.
The Iya Aladura General of the church, Prophetess Oluwaseye Yomi-Sholoye, said at the event that, with the centenary celebration of C&S worldwide billed for 2025, it was essential for the church to take stock of its performance with a view to shaping its future.
Yomi-Sholoye, who is also the Founder of the New Seraph, praised St. Moses Orimolade-Tunolase, Founder of the Cherubim and Seraphim worldwide, for his vision and efforts.
She, however, said that the vision required review to conform to contemporary aspirations.
She said that the church would no longer condone fake prophesies by its preachers.
She added that discipline and transparency would be prioritised.
The church leader said that the church would do more to improve relationship with other Christian denominations.
“Undiluted teachings of the Word of God will be encouraged to help people to grow spiritually and win souls for God and sustain the vision of the church’s founder,” she said.
According to her, prayer for Nigeria’s leaders will be given priority attention.
“They are human and need divine direction to remain on track,” she said.
The Chairman of the AGC Planning Committee, Mrs Foluke-Kolade, said that youth in the church would need to undergo spiritual and social rebirth to enable them to fit into the church’s plan.
Foluke-Kolade said that the rebirth was necessary since the youths would be leaders of the church in the future.
She said that there was the need for the youths to be supported with scholarships to prepare them for the future.
NAN reports that C&S Church, founded in 1925, has no fewer than 20 denominations. (NAN)
