CHINA has commenced the construction of its fourth pipeline for a mega power transmission project to transport natural gas from the country’s western region to the eastern part.

The construction work began on Wednesday and will cover 3,340 kilometres from Wuqia County in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to Zhongwei City in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

When completed, the pipeline will boost the gas power transmission annual capacity to 100 billion cubic meters, said Zhang Wei, Board Chairman of China Oil and Gas Piping Network Corporation, the construction company.

The company is promoting the construction of oil and gas pipeline network infrastructure to enhance China’s energy security. (Xinhua/NAN)
