China calls for deeper foreign media relations

DONG Xiaolin, Director, Foreign Affairs, Shanxi Provincial People’s Government, China, says his country will work closely with foreign journalists in the  promotion of culture and advancement  of diplomatic relations.

Dong said this on Thursday in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, while addressing 27 foreign journalists on field visit,  on the sideline of the two-day third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation summit.

The journalists are in China under auspices of the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA), to participate in the summit holding  between Oct. 18 and Oct.19,  in Beijing.

The  News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the summit is: “High-quality Belt and Road cooperation: together for common development and prosperity,” marked the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Dong said “Although the forum is designed for stakeholders to take stock of progress so far made and enhance connectivity, w are honoured to join 27 journalists from 25 countries here.

“This is under auspices of the forum for International Cooperation; Shanxi is an important cradle of Chinese nation and civilisation been famous and characterised by iconic mountains and rivers.

“It is known by location of the China’s Yellow-River, Great wall and magnificent mountains; the province is also known as Chinese art museum and the nation’s architecture.

“The three heritage sites located in our province give national comprehensive energy base with more than 270billion tonnes of coal and proper reserves of over 680 million cubic metres of coal.

“I believe your field visit to our province will give you a deep impression, provide opportunity to carve new insight about our culture and promote China diplomatic relations with your country.”

Speaking, Mr Liu Yutong, Counsellor of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, said the country’s growth could provide shared opportunities for global development.

According to him, Shanxi is endowed with rich culture and vast natural resources, saying the field visit would help journalists have a better understanding of China.

“It is good for journalists to gain first hand experience on visit to Shanxi, having participated at the just concluded Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation summit.

“Last year the total GDP of Shanxi reached 2500 billion Chinese RMB surpassing the whole province in China, Shanxi is our major province of power.

“It is a place where ancient history meets with modern development in China.

“I hope your field visit enables you to deepen China’s relations of your respective countries about shared future” Liu said.

Highpoint of the field visit was the tour to Shanxi Ruinguang Heat and Power Co. Ltd., Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group (TZCO), Hougou Village, Wujinshan Town and Yuci District.

Others included Glass Co. Ltd., Pingyao Ancient City, Tangdu Lacquerware Museum, Yungang Grottoes, Datong ancient city wall, Huayan Temple and Innovation exhibition hall of National Datong economic and Technological Development Zone. (NAN)
