THE Chinese Commerce Ministry has announced on Tuesday that it would open an anti-dumping investigation into Canadian exports of rapeseed and other chemical products to China.

China will conduct an anti-dumping investigation into rapeseed imports from Canada in accordance with corresponding internal legislation and regulations as well as with World Trade Organisation (WTO ) rules,’’ the ministry said.

The announcement came a week after Canada said it would impose a 100 per cent tariff on the import of Chinese electric vehicles, described as discriminatory by the Chinese Commerce Ministry.

Canada Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, said in August the 100 per cent tariff on China-made electric vehicles and 25per cent surtax on steel and aluminum imports from China aimed to curb “unfair competition’’ from Chinese producers.

Beijing vowed to take all necessary measures to protect the legitimate interests of its companies. (Sputnik/NAN)
