China’s Communist Party national congress to mark new turn in centinary goals – Spokesperson

THE Communist Party of China (CPC) says its 20th National Congress will mark new turn in the nation’s efforts to realise the second centinary goals.

Mr Sun Yeli, Spokesperson of the 20th National Congress of CPC, said this at a news conference on the sideline of the party’s preparation for the congress on Oct. 16, in Beijing.

According to him, preparations for the congress has been completed.

Sun said: “The congress will be a meeting of great importance to be held at a critical time.

“As the entire party and Chinese people of all ethnic groups are embarking on a new journey to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects and to realise the second centinary goals.

“The congress will hold high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, uphold Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong thought, Deng Xiaoping theory.

“The theory of the three represents the scientific outlook on development and fully implement Xi JInping thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for new era.”

He reiterated that the congress would comprehensively review work over past five years, achievements made and valuable experiences accumulated since the new era as party central committee with comrade Xi Jinping.

He further assured that plans were underway to formulate programmes, policies and arrange for the party and the country’s cause from overall strategic perspective.

The spokesperson revealed the Party’s Central Committee drafted the political reports, revised the party constitution, elect delegates to the national congress and readily prepare to elect new central committee and also a new central commission for disciplined inspection.

He said that the total of 2,296 delegates were elected across 38 electoral units of China have had their credentials confirmed to participate fully at the congress.

The news conference attracted not less than 210 domestic and foreign media across 80 countries and regions of the world.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the CPC national congress holds every five years to elect the highest leading bodies of the party in the country.

It sets national policy goals and provide platform for the election of its Central Committee.

The congress also reviews the central committee’s activities over the past five years and sets new road map, as well as elect new members of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. (NAN)
