Chinese shares close lower Thursday

CHINESE stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.33 per cent to 3,235.59 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.86 percent lower at 11,746.92 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 788.26 billion yuan (about 114 billion dollars), mildly down from that of the previous trading day.
Shares related to the oil, ceramic and the agriculture sectors suffered the most, while those in tourism, aircraft manufacturing and the steel industry had significant gains.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.86 per cent to close at 2,523.01 points Thursday. (NAN)
