Chinese shares close lower Wednesday

CHINESE stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down by 0.17 per cent to 3,117.18 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.67 per cent lower at 11,208.51 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 635.96 billion Yuan (91.46 billion dollars), down from 651 billion Yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the sectors of real estate services and shipping led the gains, while those related to tourism and hotels suffered the biggest losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.49 per cent to close at 2,331.52 points. (Xinhua/NAN)
