CIBN to confer Adesina, Oramah, Awosika, others with fellowship awards

The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) says it will confer fellowship awards on over 200 qualified and experienced associate members in recognition of their contributions to the banking industry and the economy.

The institute said on Friday in Lagos that the fellowship award on Oct. 26 is in recognition of the awardees’ meritorious services, commitment to professional responsibilities and valuable contributions to the industry in particular and the economy in general.

The awardees include the President, African Development Bank (AFDB), Dr Adewunmi Adesina; President of African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank), Prof. Benedict Okey Oramah; Chairman of GTBank Plc, Mrs Osaretin Demuren; and Chairman, First Bank of Nigeria, Mrs Ibukun Awosika.

Others are the Governor, Central Bank of The Gambia, Mr Bakary Jammeh, the Chief Executive, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) Mr Ade Ayeyemi and the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Dr Mahmoud Isa-Dutse, it said in a statement.

Also, the Managing Director, FBN Quest Merchant Bank, Mr Kayode Akinkugbe; the Managing Director, FCMB Plc, Mr Adam Nuru; the Managing Director, Nigeria Export-Import Bank and Mr Abba Bello among many others.

It said the event would have in attendance Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State; Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Former Secretary-General, Commonwealth of Nations and Dr Jim Ovia, Chairman of Zenith Bank Plc among others.

Also to be present are stakeholders and, captains of industry, top government and diplomatic officials, financial decision makers top management staff of banks and academics professionals.

According to the statement, Mr Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, President, ECOWAS will deliver the keynote address titled: “Nigeria’s Emerging New Economy: Opportunities, Challenges and Prospects”. (NAN)
