FENG Yin, Deputy Director, International Training Department of the China International Communications Group (CICG), on Wednesday described the media as strategic partners in the success of Çhina’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Feng made this known when she spoke through an interpreter, Hua Nan, during the opening of a video seminar organised for Senior Executives of Nigerian Media Organisations.
She said that CICG had contributed immensely to marketing the Belt and Road Initiative which 126 countries across the world including Nigeria, and 29 international organisations signed.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the trade volume between China and countries joining the BRI has surpassed six trillion dollars with more than 80 billion dollars of Chinese investments in these countries.
The 82 overseas cooperative parks jointly built by China and the countries along the route have created nearly 300, 000 development opportunities to all the countries.
According to the deputy director, CICG is honoured to organise multiple training for African trainees including 20 information officers and journalists from Nigeria.
She expressed the hope that the seminar would serve as a new platform upon which to promote China-Nigeria relations.
Feng maintained that China and Nigeria shared extensive goals ranging from promoting peace, health, education, to cultural exchanges.
She said that such extensive goals were with a view to ensuring steady and sustainable growth of both countries.
The CICG official said that going forward, the seminar would help tell “good stories’’ about the mutually beneficial China-Nigeria relations.
The webinar, which is also being attended by media officials from developing countries, is part of the training programme under China’s foreign assistance.
The webinar serves as a bridge of friendship and cooperation between the Chinese government and the governments of other developing countries.
Established in October 1949, CICG runs 26 branches in 14 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, Russia, Egypt, South Africa, Mexico, Peru, Japan, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
International communication service of CICG covers six areas: high-end publicity service, external publication and distribution, media and global communication, cultural exchanges with other countries, publicity consulting, and industry collaboration.
It publishes more than 4,000 titles of books in more than 40 languages, edits around 36 multilingual journals in 14 languages, and distributes them to more than 180 countries and regions around the world annually. (NAN)
