HAJIA Khadijat Olayiwola, an Ilorin-based cleric, has admonished parents to provide guidance for their children to be upright citizens of the nation.

Olayiwola, who gave the advice in her sermon on Friday in Ilorin, observed that some children are not well trained and that they grow up to become a menace to the family and the society as a whole.

She observed that some parents do not caution their children at a young age, who are adamant and stubborn in their ways.

According to her, some mothers don’t even want their children to be disciplined even by their fathers.

She said this is a dangerous trend, adding that parents who allow their children to be misguided and don’t get disciplined when they do wrong; end up regretting it later in life.

“Children that are over pampered and allowed all privileges without caution, end up demanding and unbending.

“They become people who are unfeeling and always exacting their dominance over others,” she said.

Olayiwola added that those who are unbending and are stubborn in their ways, would not progress.

“The religion preaches patience in all we do and advise all Muslims to be in the middle in their ways and actions even pertaining to religion, warning against excess in actions,’’ she said. (NAN)
