Cleric urges Christians to seek God diligently, expect heavenly rewards

REV. Istifanus Koce, of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Action Area 2, Kuje, FCT, has urged Christians to diligently seek God for divine fulfillment and reward hereafter.
Koce, who gave the advice at a Sunday sermon entitled: “The Re-warder and Reward of Those Who Diligently Seek the Lord God” in Kuje, called on Christians to wait for God’s reward and not of men.
He said Christians, in seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness, should emulate the godly characteristics of Jesus Christ while on earth.
According to him, God is the only genuine re-warder and the people who He rewards are people that genuinely seek him.
While admonishing Christians to wait for God’s reward, the cleric particularly enjoined the congregation to give willingly for the progress and development of the Church.
The cleric, reading from Hebrews chapter 11, verse 1 to 6, revealed how Apostle Paul described faith as a substance for anticipation.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, for by it the elders obtain a good report.
“Through faith and the word we understand that the World was formed, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear,” he said.
He stressed the need for Christians to help others, especially those in need, saying “we must try to positively touch the lives of others, care and improve the welfare of our neighbours”.
He, however, called on all Nigerians, irrespective of their socio- cultural and ethno-religious differences, to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, tolerance and forgiveness in order to move the nation forward.
The cleric tasked Christians to love, care for the needy and also to pray for peace in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Sunday service featured communion service, praise and worship, and prayers for the former associate pastor of the Church, Mr Jibrin Lokuto. (NAN)
