THE Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Anambra State Branch has called for prompt and immediate prosecution of callous and wicked woman, Nkiruka Udugbo of Umudunu Abagana in Njikoka LG for heartlessly and mercilessly molesting, beating, kicking, maltreating and pouring water on her elderly and vulnerable mother for yet to be disclosed reasons.

In a press statement endorsed by Vincent Ezekwueme Chairman and Chidi Mbah, Secretary, respectively themed “we are murderers the moment we see evil and failed to speak against it” described the action of devilish and dreadful woman as apogee of irresponsibility, insensitivity, callousness and inhuman.

Such a woman is supposed to be sent to the zoo as her actions do not portray her as a human being.

The government, security personnel should expedite actions towards the prosecution of the woman and her accomplices because silence means consent.

Where were the husband, immediate family and neighbours when she wickedly striped the senior citizen naked?

The woman and her likes should be made to understand that we are not in the Hobbesian state of nature in which the might is not only right, but life will be brutish, nasty and short.

We appeal to Gov. Soludo to establish more Old People’s Homes, Human Rights Desk or Office as recommended and yet to be implemented by the Report by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Veronica Ngozi Umeh led Anambra State Judicial Panel on Police Brutality and Other Related Matters.

It is no exaggeration, but existential reality that the family is not safe and secured for the senior citizen hence the inevitable need for the Commissioner for Women Affairs to ensure proper rehabilitation and provision of adequate healthcare for the elderly woman and we also pray for quick recovery of the senior citizen, the CLO said.

“We solicit for support and solidarity of citizens in our collective fight against injustices, human rights abuses and violations by alerting security personnel and human rights organizations for prompt and immediate actions where and when necessary. Together we will rights the wrongs of the society and ensure social and economic justice for all,” it added.
