THE chieftain of the Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, and Human Rights Activist, Vincent Ezekwueme, has made a passionate appeal to President Bola Tinubu and the Senator representing the FCT, Senator Kingibe to intervene and restore normalcy, justice and peace in the controversy surrounding the demolition of 214 hectares of land belonging to Nicholas Ukachukwu by Nyesom Wike, minister of the FCT.

It will be recalled that the demolition of the estate has generated a lot of controversy with some schools of thought claiming that it was done in bad faith without adequate warning and notifications in spite of the fact that there was purported approvals by government and minister’s endorsement.

According to Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. “whatever that affects one directly, affects all indirectly, in addition to “no one is free until all of us are free” hence the inevitable need for President Tinubu to urgently wade into the crisis and do the needful as the father of the nation not only to ensure justice, peace, healing, restoration, equity and most importantly to restore people’s trust, hope and confidence in government.

It is of prime importance to note that Ukachukwu was a former member of the House of Representatives, patriot, statesman, detribalized, entrepreneur and renowned employer of labour who believed in Nigerian project.

“His investment cut across all the zones in the country and as such deserves encouragements, support and commendations.

“He has contributed, and still contributing immensely towards solving the housing challenges in the FCT and its environs,” Ezekwueme said in a statement.

The statement added that President Tinubu as statesman, patriot, democrat and father of the nation should halt the demolition and ensure justice, peaceful, patriotic and amicable resolution of the crisis to the glory of God.

He stated that the governments should always hold their officials who gave approvals to developers accountable and not unsuspecting genuine investors.

“Unfortunately, the demolition if not halted will certainly exacerbate housing challenges in the FCT and environs,” Ezekwueme said.
