THE Chairman, Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Anambra State Vincent Ezekwueme, has called on the political class and Nigerians to live selfless, humanitarian and sacrificial life of St.Valentine in order to actualize the Nigeria of our dreams, hopes and aspirations.

Speaking at a public lecture for Civil Society Organizations and Youths in commemoration of 2024 St. Valentine’s feast with the theme “let us emulate sacrificial life of St. Valentine”, Ezekwueme said “just as St.Valentine died for others to live and be reconciled with God, we must as well discomfort ourselves for others to be comforted”.

According to St. Mother Theresa of Calcutta “one has not lived unless he lives for others” hence the inevitable need for us to always live for others in tandem with life of St. Valentine.

He recalled that the feast of St. Valentine is celebrated every February 14th, fortunately this year’s event coincided with Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of the 40-day fasting, penance, and lent.

He urged the political class and affluent Nigerians to use this year’s St Valentine feast to show love, empathy, compassion and care for the citizens, especially the less privilege.

14th February, 2024.
