THE remains of late partriarach and oldest Umuchu indigene living abroad Pa Sylvester Obika Ezekwueme was laid to rest at exactly 11.45 am at his compound in Ugwuakwu -Umuchu by the officiating Priest and others including the parish priest St. Mathew Holy name parish Umuchu, Fr. Johnbosco Obigwe of Onitsha Archdiocese, Fr.Jude Uwakwe among others.
The officiating Priest Rev.Fr.Boniface Ezeokenwa appeal to Christians to emulates live of selfless sacrifices, contentment, tolerance, perseverance, love for God and humanity if they actually want to live in longevity, prosperous and fulfilled life.
He advised them to extricate themselves from all vices and luggages that will be hinderance towards their salvation .
The funeral ceremony attracted presidential candidate of Labour party Mr. Peter Obi represented by Hon.Val Ozigbo and three former Commissioners, His excellency Professor Chukwumah Soludo was ably represented by Chairman of Aguata LG Dr. Chibuike Oforbuike, Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife was represented by powerful delegation and regretted his unavoidable absent .
Among other dignitaries includes Professor Ifenyinwa Emejulu, Drs Okey Odumodu, Mulumba Obiajulu, Hon. Gablyn Oguno, Hon. Engr. Dom Okafor, Nze Emeka Umeg alasi among others.
In his speech Gov. Soludo sympathies with the family and appeal to them to engraved in their hearts and minds good legacies of the great patriot.
Obi calls for celebration of the living than the dead. He calls for prayers for peace, justice, equality, morality and good governance.
In his vote of thanks the head of the family Mr Simon Ezekwueme who double as the chairman of the burial committee thanks all those that attended the event and pray to God to grant them journey mercy.
Chairman of CLO Comrade Evangelist Vincent Ezekwueme stated that his father lived life worthy of emulation and commendation.
We are grateful for unprecedented love and concern since the death of our late father Pa Sylvester Obika Ezekwueme.
